As I recall it's still bad damage, but worth testing again.

It's a assassin, they are supposed to instantly kill, seems to me some people got pked long ago so feel the love

If a cav and pally have same armor and weapons shouldn't their dammage be equal? Now that's something to compare :)

You could argue a cav is a more skilled fighter as that's his main focus, whereas a pally has to heal and be a bible basher too.

slayers/assies don't carry swords with them generally, and i dont think you can bank a sbed item so things will get cluttered if they have to bring an extra wep.
plus they'll generally only have access to a shit sword to bring instead of a good one

You can bank sbed items. Also if a sword proves the solution then make it a point to get a good one instead of carrying a bad one.

yeah i agree with strength and weapon output being the same on all classes. if a 21 str dwarf is swinging an axe, it shouldnt matter if hes a bard or a barbarian, same strength same axe.... only problem is if the builders/players want so many class only items ingame to make classes different. either way, it makes more sense that the statistics are similar for every class. endurance and agility give the same boosts to every class why would strength be the exception? if the damage needs to be different just give them different weapon sets or class only ones.

slayers should be able to attempt an assassination technique from unhidden, it should just have pretty high hit rate / damage penalties or both. maybe 1.5x damage instead of 4x and a -2.5% hit. just an idea.

that's definitely a great option, no races no classes just humans weapons and stats ;P

I just want to chim in and I'm listening to things but one thing that won't happen is that same damage for all classes. I don't like that idea and I don't think it's needed. Everyone would just be clerics with super heals and good/high damage and then we'd have to re-balance everything which I'm not up for changing the core of the game like that.

strength should be a set statistic 1 point in strength is 5 melee damage or whatever, not 2 damage for mage, 40 damage for warriors, 10 if your name is fred, half that for females, x2.666666 if its a female with a beard. etc.

1 point of endurance is 60 max hit points not 79 because you are a dwarf ballerina or 32 because you're a faerie spellcaster. see how much simpler that is. creating an item that has to be balanced for 5 or 6 classes opposed to 1 is more work than the "core" change, you'll notice later.

class abilities and skills should separate the damage fields not the statistics themselves. plane jane attack is just a simple club smash. i believe some weapon changes/additions in the future would remedy the damage differences easier to maintain overall . not to mention releasing more class specific items allows you to create vastly more items without everything always being the same.


anyway i hope thief becomes viable id like to use mine in a party someday. dodge rate bonus and bow abilities please.

y'all bitches stop hijacking my thread!

My points here are in relation to OaDs, not balance on the whole. I mostly play this game to to OaDs and currently 2 classes (brig/slayer) are borderline useless for them. Knight is far from useless but currently there are times when taunting feels overly dangerous (when mobs hit for 6-800 you can still get double tapped).

My proposals are to try and equal out the value of taking all classes to OaDs. If you guys wanna talk overall game balance that's great but please let's make a separate thread for that or else everything gets muddy.
