Proficiency is how well you use a weapon. There was 4 levels (From novice to master) and it granted +4 bonus when mastered. The only benefit is has really is an RP aspect. I think it only really matters during the first few levels too. Most people just grinded on slimes afterwards to level it.
Thing is, vprof is always going to have a max limitation. It was in rok, it would be in my game too to prevent large lists and having the server have to scan through 300 equipped items. Maybe 10 maximum would be displayed.
I wanted everyones take on it though. Waste of space or add it? Mind you, you'd still get the +4 bonus in some other way so don't feel like you'd be losing out on damage.
To Vprof or not to Vprof.
Re: To Vprof or not to Vprof.
I would say no to save space and if you are attacking something for days with a sword type weapon it's given that you have mastered using it.

Maybe have the option to select the weapons you want to show in the list if you have it? That way you can show off that you mastered the rubber mallet of doom that only Nitehawk has.

its beyond just a small list tho. the game has to keep track of and check all the items you have ever used on that character and what level they are mastered at.
You could say just keep a small list then the player has to purge the weapon to start learning new but even that is annoying.
Dont get me wrong I liked the rp aspect but its another thing for new players to learn and keep track of. An annoyance for vets to have to master new weapons they get and shaping up to be a pain to code and for the server to have to mess with checking on (maybe adding lag).

I'd say have it unless it's a burden to code in.
It's not important for the game but it gives it a little rp aspect.

Troll. I am here to create the issues that plague the game, I will push your buttons and like the outcome.
Re: To Vprof or not to Vprof.
I'll see about it in the future then, seems like overall its more of a bonus thing that doesn't really hurt if its in or not right now anyways and there is more important things to do.
Re: To Vprof or not to Vprof.
Rather than gaining prof on a specific sword, maybe we can do prof on weapon types.
For example, Prof on Swords, Axes, Blunts, etc...
For it to make sense though, we'd have to add more weapon types. But overall I think we can put this on hold

If that's the case yeah, could be possible. Needs to have a longer time too get mastery though.
Re: To Vprof or not to Vprof.
Yes. Def. a longer time. Or one could have OADs to increase the Prof.
Say it could get to master... but then you need an item to get to Grand Master for example.

Too late again I know.
I liked weapon proficiencies, but if it takes up space or coding orwhatever, then meh, not needed. A compromise though woiuld be to allow the player to choose up to 3 weapons (or more or less) to master. This list can be changed as and when the player wants, but off course the new weapon will need to be trained up and the old ones training will be lost until they decide to re-master it.
