Ranger Ideas

For rangers. Instead of having to release a pet. You could purchase a pet kennel that can store up to 5 pets max. Can only own 1 kennel.

There needs to be a profanity filter in place when naming pets. (obvious reasons. Motherf***** was helping me kill stuff last night)

There needs to be a check ran against created character names when naming pets. (Nitehawk has been running around with me the past couple of nights helping me kill stuff!)

There needs to be a check ran against pet names when naming pets so you dont get duplicates of the same name (if this is even possible)

There needs to be a check ran against npc/mob names when naming a pet (that way you dont have people naming their pets after oad bosses and sitting on the square blocking people from hitting the boss.)

I was thinking about something like the kennel in the future.

The profanity thing is a good idea.

The character naming thing is kind of impossible to do, I dont' want to limit people that much. Specially unavoidable because if someone makes their pet name and then someone creates a character name afterwards, the pet name is still going ot be set. Plus if they release their pet and want to rename a pet they had for a year to the same but can't, I don't think it could be nice. I think simply we can say if people are abusing special names, staffers specially, they will be forced to change them.

Same for duplicate pet naming, but it's impossible to do easily anyways. I don't think I'd like to limit people that way.

The MOB name things is probably a good idea but isn't possible just yet. There isn't a way to get 'all monster' names in scripting yet.

Ahh yeah I see your point with characters and duplicate names.

How would attacking (for those who type commands) work though with duplicate names in the same location?
This is a curiosity thing, since if a pet had the name of someone/something I was attacking I would just use the attack icon etc.

Players will be attacked before monsters name wise, so the players naming thing is only a minor inconvience towards who they name it too, but staff will have to deal with it if its due to harrassment.

For monster duplications, monsters have IDs, spawned or not. You can still use the server options NPCID to deal with duplicates.

Eventually it will be more like a monstername 1/2/3/4/5/etc instead so its easier, but this was a quick fix to make it attack NPCID. It'll also fix up that message that says 'm45 is not here' for example cause it's basing it off ID.

How about putting a special character in front of the display of the pet's name. Something that doesn't change the name of the pet or alter what people have to do but make it obvious that it's a pet when you see a party. Like my catfish Flipper... it could be displayed as ^Flipper. This would also take care of the problem with people naming their pets after people. That extra character at the start can't be hidden and people can tell at a glance that it's simply a pet.

Might be better at the end, otherwise people would need to type it out. The new client separates mobs plus has a color that is very easy to knowledge so this isn't needed so much in the future.
