Scavenging

Scavenging is one of four different gathering professions a player can have. Players can learn this profession by traveling to Alderra and speaking with Jarod Jacobson. After completing his quest, you'll need to purchase a hunting knife from the Tools of the Trade store next to Jarod. Equip it and your all set to begin scavenging!

To Scavenge:

  • The player must have the hunting knife equipped. From there, they slay NPCs in the appropriate level range and the NPC will drop materials.

Note: Scavenging

Forage 'nodes' or NPCs can only be used once every 60 second. You'll want to run around and find additional nodes while the others are refreshing.
Warning: When you forage, your stamina will completely deplete causing a cool down before you can move.

Foraging Tips

While one of the simpler minor professions, there are some tips to make your experience as easy as possible.

  • Foraging node locations change daily. Just because it was on a certain tile today does not mean it'll be on the same tile tomorrow. Look around!

Note: While the node locations change daily, the AMOUNT of nodes in a region do not change. e.g. Ebonfen will always have 5 nodes, you just have to locate their positions each day.

  • While any class can perform foraging - some classes come more recommended than others.
  • Necromancers are recommended as you can have two undead out with you and leech to restore your health. This helps reduce or eliminate any costs associated with gathering.
  • Rangers are recommended given you can spawn a pet that heals and takes the majority of the damage.
  • Monks are recommended if they have moon stance. Monks can 'drag' a monster off the forage tile and then enter moon stance to prevent dragging any monsters back onto the tile so you do not take damage. Monks can also meditate to restore health quickly.

Scavenging

Scavenging is broken up into two main categories of materials; Cloths and Leathers.
For cloth, you'll want to kill Humanoids, Greenskins, Demons, and Undead.
For leather, you'll want to kill Animals, Beasts, Insects, and Reptiles.

Each group is self contained.
Humanoids/greenskins/demons/undead will all drop the same pool of scavenging items per tier.
And animals/beasts/insects/reptiles will all drop the same pool of scavenging items per teir.

Here you can see a test performed to confirm. Broken down by each of the three tiers and by each type of mob in each group. You can see that all the mobs types of the same tier and group all had the same scavenging drops.
Note: This test was ran before the potential 15% bonus was implemented. So this is with 0% / no bonus to scavenging.

Note however that drops are percentage based. You can do the same run of mobs and get slightly different final numbers but the type of drops will be the same. In the following example the same group of T1 humanoids were done twice. You can see the drops are the same, but the amounts vary slightly

Mobs must be between these levels

Tier 2 = 21-23
