Professions

Professions are roles that a player can take on to collect rare materials and create powerful equipment. Professions have two primary categories:

  • Major Professions: Weapon Crafting, Armor Crafting, Jewel Crafting, and Alchemy
  • Minor Professions: Scavenging, Mining, Foraging, and Fishing

Professions become available to players starting at level 16, in the city of Alderra. Each character can learn one Major Profession and two Minor Professions. Players are encouraged to learn professions as soon as possible given their lengthy leveling process. A player can change any profession by returning to the crafting area in Alderra and completing the quest to 'forget' the profession.

Warning: Forgetting a Profession causes the player to lose all progress in that profession permanently!

Note: Inscription, while considered a part of Professions, does not count towards a Profession on a character. (e.g. A player can have Weapon Crafting, Mining, Scavenging, AND Inscription)

Minor Profession (Max 2)

Minor professions are considered the gathering professions. A player can have two at any time. Minor professions have three tiers to unlock.

Tier 1: Levels 0-199
Tier 2: Level 200 - 499
Tier 3: Level 500 - 1000

As you level a Profession, the player receives a drop rate bonus for materials in that tier. The drop rate bonus caps at 15%. There is a soft cap on leveling and drop bonuses. After you've performed the Minor Profession action 200 times in a day, the material drops and leveling experience are reduced significantly. This is restricted by tier, so a player can mine tier 3 200 times in a day and then go to tier 2 and mine an additional 200 times without having their drop rates decrease.

The gathering bonuses are separate for each tier of a single minor profession. So you tier 1 mining bonus is separate from your tier 1 scavenging bonus. And your tier 1 mining bonus is separate from your tier 2 mining bonus.

Your Bonus starts as soon as you unlock a specific tier. Every single time you gain a skill level, your bonus will increase ever so slightly.
t1 will increase 0.075% per level.
t2 will increase 0.05% per level.
t3 will increase 0.03% per level.
Each up to a max of 15%. By the time you reach the next tier, you should reach the full 15% bonus to gathering resources.

Gathering Drop Rates
Common Materials - 60% drop
Uncommon Materials - 30% drop
Rare Materials - 10% drop
